I'm sure I've seen Gangly Moose more than a few times, but they never left much of an impression on me. Alaskana background music. But when the Photons were in their prime, they were a real fun band. Below is a link to LAMA, the Live Alaskan Music Archive. They offer FLAC and MP3 downloads of the local sounds. Too bad there's only one Clark County, they are (were) a kick-ass bluegrass ensemble. http://snowy.arsc.alaska.edu/music/

What I miss the most is the Hunters Creek Bluegrass fest. Nothing like that Talkeetna BS, this was actual Bluegrass. And what else was cool was it was a family event. people ( me too of course )took in coolers with Beer and whine or whatever but they weren't A-holes abou their partyin so I could totally take my kids.

I was big on the bluegrass festival scene. Hunter Creek was my favorite for a mellow scene and great bluegrass. I went to the first one, and then it was an anual tradition. Cantwell was always rockin too, started going to that in 94, though it has been a few years since I have done any of them. Talkeetna used to be a mindblowing experience, best party on earth in the mid 90's when it was at the original site. But that scene went to hell by 2002, too bad. I've lost all my ambition for it anymore. Getting lazy I guess.

I had a pretty good time the one time I went to the Talkeetna fest, the only thing that bugged me was too many kids partying. Made me feel old, plus a lot of them are so dumb

Yes, exactly. The last time we went, some kids camped next to us with a U-Haul, 3000 watt stereo system and generator, and proceded to blast everyone out for 72 hours straight with techno BS. That was not our idea of fun. Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life!

(Now we have graduated to a 3000 watt stereo system at home blasting our neighbors out with Grateful Dead! Our neighbors probably think the same thing!)

Was that 97? That's the only year I went and I saw that exact scene. I had to admit it was pretty intense the extreme someone went to with the strobe lights in the trees and everything.

Oh it gets MUCH MUCH worse. First was this little kid who's parents I had to find for him ( too f'd up ), but THE WORST was this:

So these kids were perched on some dirt berm yelling at the chicks " show me your tits" of which of course none of them did. So what happens to us? We're kicking it on the tailgate of the truck when these chicks set up camp up the hill from us and decided they'd be the opposite of those dudes. So they proceed to yell " show us your cock" over and over and over to every dude walking by ( right in front of where we were ). Now imagine having to endure this after taking the first lysergic I'd taken in 7 or 8 years!
